Awesome Race Weekend

We all had a blast this weekend. Friday we hung out around the RV all day and played football and ate good food and spent time together relaxing. Chris' dad Wayne was there the whole weekend and he really is a great guy. The boys had a really good time hanging with him and he and Caden were best buds by the end of the weekend. Saturday and Sunday afternoons we spent at the race track. Caden seemed to have a pretty good time. He liked to watch and hear the cars go by but as with everything when you are 17 months old his attention span was a little short lived for the whole race. I think his favorite thing was all the flying objects -- blimps and helicopters and airplanes. He kept taking off running after them and pointing into the sky.

Jeff Gordon won the race, which was really cool for all of us except Grandpa who is a Jr fan. Russell's favorite driver Dale Jarrett who is driving a new Toyota car ( Toyota's first year in NASCAR) this year was out of the race early due to a bad engine. At least he didn't finish last.

( On a side note: Adjusting to the RV: We paid the RV place $500 to inspect the RV and fix a couple things. One of those things was a leak in the plumbing, which we discovered while we were camping this weekend is still there )

Although it was lot of fun this weekend, as with every "vacation" it was also very exhausting. The boys and I left Talladega headed home at midnight Sunday and got in at 0500. We all took a little nap and then left to go on Zeke's school field trip to the zoo. Then we came home and swam in the pool. It was really nice out yesterday. Caden is finally starting to figure out how to put his face/head in the water briefly without ingesting any water and choking. After dinner we all went to bed early so we could be ready for Caden's big day.

Chris left Talladega Monday morning and drove up to DC with the RV. He didn't get into DC until 245 Tues morning and then had to take a nap and go to work. Well, at least now that the RV is in DC that is one less thing we have to transport up there.

This morning I woke up at 0415, got the kids ready, and loaded them up at 0445 for the hour and fifteen minute drive to the hospital. We had our first 5 minutes of action at 0600 when we were finally admitted and moved to bed number four. After an hour of entertaining a tired and hungry 17 month old that I wasn't allowed to feed, we saw the anesthesiologist -- for 5 minutes at 0700. Then, we sat around and waited till 0800 when they came to get him. The surgery was done at 0810 and I got to go back and be with him as he woke up. We were cleared to leave the hospital at 0920. Caden is doing great, and acts ,like nothing has happened -- except maybe his tongue is longer :)~ He is babbling and eating just like normal. He did stick is tongue out all the way once. It is so different to actually see it. I am glad he is through the whole thing and hope we don't have to do anything like this again.

I'm so glad Caden's surgery is over and went well! I hate all that military waiting, though. Wow, that was an early morning.

Your weekend sounds fun! I know exactly what you mean about fun but exhausting vacations. Somehow the mom is always the one that is responsible for a lot of things and really ends up tired! : ) Good thing all you have to worry about now is the move, so you'll have plenty of time to relax and recover, LOL.
