Bracing for Travel

We are on the verge of our big month of travel. Between now and the end of the month Chris and I will make at least 2 trips from Florida to West Virginia. We know there will need to be a third trip, we just don't know when right now. Of course with Chris deploying soon, that trip will probably be me and the boys. I also have to drive up just north of Chicago 2 times to drop off and pick up Russell from summer camp. We will be going by way of Dayton so that we can visit with family. Somewhere in there we will be stopping to see his parents and my grandmother and who knows what else we will fit in to this month. It seems like it is always that way the month before he deploys.

Russell is finishing up his last little bit of school work for 5th grade and Zeke has been doing some 1st grade review to occupy his time while Russell does his work. It is kinda like getting a glimpse of what it will really be like homeschooling both of them. Zeke is actually asking to do work and excited. I'm sure that will eventually wear off, but it is nice while it lasts.

We got a whole lot of the packing done this week, and still managed to spend time on base with friends at the open house. In 10 years of flying the boys had never been inside one of the airplanes I flew so they thought it was pretty cool to see where I sat. Russell's room is ready to go into the truck and Zeke's and Cadens rooms will be tonight. It is surprising to see how many boxes it takes and how long it takes to box up what seems like such a small amount of stuff. It has been really nice to go through things and Goodwill a lot of stuff and throw out what we were not going to use anymore and could not give to Goodwill.

Tomorrow we will be working all morning - followed by picking up Daddy at the airport. The boys are so excited to be able to see Chris before they have to go with their father. Zeke is really excited about the move again. Of course I am sure this next two weeks will kill that, but we will prevail. I think one of the surprises their father has for them is that he will be getting married to this woman he met 6 weeks ago, while they are there in the next two weeks. Won't that be interesting. I have been thanking God alot lately that we made the decision to go ahead and buy in West Virginia and get outta here. I am now more convinced than ever that it was God's will that we buy before selling this house and that he led me to the revelation that we could afford it and it was the right move to make. It is definitely not the right move for them to be around their father and this woman. Amazingly enough, I gave him 6 months with her before he quit church, but as of last week he has quit going to church. Wow. That was even faster than the bankruptcy that he filed.

Well, I am off to do more yard work and packing and get ready to be gone for the next 10 days. I hope everyone has a great Memorial Day weekend.

Wow, R's life is like some kind of bad soap opera! We'll be praying for the boys esp. these next 2 weeks.

I love the whole "going thorugh and tossing stuff before moving" phase. It feels so good to get rid of all the junk we accumulate during an assignment. I'm itching to do that now, but there is no move coming up, and we just had a baby so . . . not a high priority. But it would sure make me feel good!

My cousin that just got here flies C-130s, so I've been thinking aobut you!
