Back home and catching up

A lot has happened since I last wrote. To start, I was able to mend the invisible fence, but was unable to fix the lawnmower. I did however find what the lawn mower's problem was. I just couldn't fix it. Fortunately for us and our lawn that was about 18 inches tall by this time, our neighbors across the street generously offered for Chris to borrow their riding lawn mower. So, Chris fixed the push mower and while he used the neighbors riding lawn mower on the front lawn, I push mowed the back lawn. Now I just have to keep him from buying a zero turn radius riding lawn mower. LOL. It was really nice to be able to get the lawn mowed before leaving on our trip to Ft Bragg NC.

Last weekend before we left for our trip the boys had their second soccer games. Russell's team didn't have enough players so they let Ezekiel play. Russell's coach said Zeke could play with them anytime since they were so short players. Zeke really got a thrill playing with the big kids.

We had a really good trip to NC. Olivia travelled really well. Of course, as I was taking my time to get everything packed and out the door, I left the boys school work. So, while we were there we found a couple of pretty cool sites on line. www.kidsgeo.com and www.whitehouse.gov/kids. We had a lot of fun on both sites. The whitehouse site was especially interesting as we learned a whole lot of neat facts about the presidents and the whitehouse. Also while we were there we went to the Special Operations Museum (Ezekiel loved this), the Kids Touch Museum (age appropriate for Caden), A Army Special Ops museum on base (Chris and I got to relive some of the old days), and a rock climbing gym (Russell's thing). While at the climbing gym we found out that there is another climbing gym just down the road from us in Sterling VA. We are excited to go check it out. While we were down there, the family had dinner with one of Chris' oldest friends. It was nice to finally get a chance to meet her and her husband. The ride home was nice since Chris was with us and I didn't have to drive.

Unfortunately while we were in NC we found that Chris had to be at his next class at 0730 SUNDAY morning not Monday. So much for having a day of rest. So we had 2 soccer games, soccer pictures, pick up the dogs from the kennel, go to Baltimore to pick up Chris' rental car required for his class, Chris had to go to Dulles to check into his hotel. It was a long day.

I have begun the process of trying to get Caden back into a normal sleeping arrangement. Now that Chris will be home for a few months I am hoping to get him back to falling asleep quickly in his own bed (something he stopped doing when Chris left on the last deployment), and I am going to try to eliminate the "bite". He only sucks on "bite" when he goes to bed at night so hopefully with the stability with Daddy at home it will be easier to get rid of it now. Potty training is still going good. He has even gotten up dry a couple of the mornings lately.

Olivia is getting big fast. I can already tell a big difference in her weight as she starts to fill out. Thankfully, she is still sleeping well which is great for all of us. She has a well baby appointment on Wednesday so we get to see exactly how much she has grown.

Yay, you're back! I'm glad you had a good trip. " . . . I forgot the schoolwork"--LOL! I'm guessing no one was standing around trying to remind you of it either! : ) Sounds like you did a lot of great stuff without books, though.

I've heard good things about that climbing wall, although we've never been there. Some of the people in our homeschool email loop go there.

Who has ever heard of a class starting on a Sunday?!! That's absolutely crazy!

Hope you have a nice, restful week!
