I can't remember if I mentioned that we might be having puppies again. Well, we had Sandi and Mischief (Sandi's daughter) scheduled to be spayed the week after Thanksgiving. We didn't want more puppies -- especially with a baby of our own on the way. Sandi was not supposed to come into heat until December and Mischief not until January. Well, we got back after Thanksgiving to the wonderful news that not only had Sandi come into heat early but Balou and her had managed to "do the deed" while at the kennel. GREAT (lots of sarcasm). Our prayers were that since it took 4tries to get her pregnant with ONE puppy (Mischief), surely when we didn't want a liter she wouldn't get pregnant. NO SUCH LUCK. Sandi (remember she is a miniature dachshund) is now as wide as she is long and her belly drags the ground. She can't jump up the step to get into the house anymore. The best we can figure She is due in a week to 10 days, and I am pretty sure there are more than one of them this time.
So, here I am 30 weeks pregnant, with Rusty, Zeke, Caden, 4 dogs, and Chris out of the country. And as if that weren't enough we are about to add to the mix an as of yet undetermined number of puppies. Thankfully -- at least for now -- we seem to be mouse free.

Oh my gosh, Johanna! I can't believe this! Mice, puppies, babies--you are some kind of haven for little creatures!! Tell Sandi I know just how she feels though. I was sure I wouldn't get pregnant while nursing, since I had never started my cycle back before I stopped. Look how that turned out for me, LOL. At least I didn't have twins. So, are you going to try to find homes for the puppies?
