West Virginia Residency

Oh my. I thought it was awful although somewhat humorous when my friend Claire described her attempts to get a Virginia Drivers License. I may have laughed a little but I did remember it as I gathered together what I thought I would need to get my West Virginia Drivers License. I practically took my life's history and it still wasn't enough. First, you have to have two forms of picture I'd. Well, I would have my FL DL and my military ID except I still haven't managed to find the time to sit for hours on base and get my new ID. So, I have to use my passport for my second ID. Unfortunately my passport is still in my other name so to use that as a picture ID I also needed to take along my marriage certificate -- to prove the name change. Ok. Then I had to have my social security card, a certified copy of my birth certificate, and two household bills showing my name and the current WV address (to prove residency). I was ok right up to the 2 bills. The only bill my name is on is the mortgage, so I had taken it. I anticipated needing the bill -- thanks to Claire's wonderful story. However, I had not anticipated needing 2 bills. So, after I explained to them that it was the only bill with my name on it they said I could bring in another bill with just Chris name on it and that would work with the marriage certificate. WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP. Holy Cow. I think it was easier to get my TOP SECRET CLEARANCE than to get my WV DL. I won't even go into what I still need to do to register my vehicles up here. I want to know how on earth ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS GET Drivers Licenses and ID CARDS. How is it even possible.
