. . .and boy was it interesting. We went to Luray Caverns in Virginia. It was a cool tour and we got a lot of neat pictures. The only thing that bothered me was the tour was rushed. We practically ran through the caverns with the next tour group hot on our heals. I wish I had time to take pictures and hear what the guide was saying. Oh well, it was a neat walk through the caves anyway.
We all met up to caravan down together. While we were waiting to depart Beth and I discovered that we have a mutual distaste for one of the other homeschooling mom's(we will just call her crazy lady or CL from now on), and that she was going on the trip. Oh well, we would just stay away from her. So, Sharon started off and we fell in behind to follow. After an exciting hour long ride down to the caverns we finally arrived. Sharon lead us the back roads through some beautiful scenery, and she tends to have a lead foot. Unfortunately for all of us who were planning on having a stress free day -- these two facts irritated CL. While we were waiting to go on our tour, when she proceeds to read the riot act to Sharon in the middle of a packed public restroom. Lucky for her she was talking to Sharon because I don't think I would have been as graceful as Sharon was about it all. With all this going on we went into the tour, during which time CL, her husband, and children proceeded to be rude to everyone around them as we walked through the caverns. Oh yeah -- did I mention -- CL is never happy. She complained the entire way through the tour. We did survive the tour and even managed to enjoy it despite her efforts to ruin it for everyone. Then, the real fun began. Where to go eat. The trip was forecast to be a rainy cold and dreary day. We originally planned to picnic lunch together after the tour, but after 2 days of rain and a poor forecast an email was sent out saying we were going to eat out somewhere instead. Somehow, with 8 families on the trip, only CL didn't get the message. So, after the tour we spent an hour trying to figure out what to do. Finally, Beth, Sharon, and I had enough and started sending our kids to the car and giving everyone the message we were leaving. Ahh, we thought we were going to make it out of there. Alas, they did follow us. CL showed up at the Denny's with her pack lunch. When she arrived we had already seated our 4 families with all 10 kids and 4 adults. We had them set up tables next to us for the late arrivers. However, this was not good enough for CL. She came in marched right up to the kids and began rearranging them to put her children where she wanted them. AAAAHHH. Mass confusion. Then, she proceeded to hand out her pack lunch. If it had not been so irritating it would almost have been funny. Later that day I found out that she is sort of an "unschooler" -- Those who don't believe children should ever be forced to learn anything they don't want to learn etc. . . Her son and daughter function 3-5 years younger than they are both academically and socially. How insane. After all was said in done, the tour was good, we had a great time with our friends, and we learned one very important lesson -- Never go anywhere CL is going. LOL.
Oh yeah -- on last thing-- Russell's admirer, from the last post, was on the trip. I don't think I have ever seen a girl work that hard for the attention of a boy.
