Topical Storms, Races, and Football

What an awful weekend. Several months back I decided to purchase tickets ($$) for the whole family to go to the races (NASCAR) in Richmond Virginia. The race was to be a Saturday night race 6 September. Luckily the boys were scheduled to have a Sunday afternoon football game and Chris didn't have to go to Alaska for work until Monday. We were able to find a nice hotel room ($$)even at the late date and get the dogs into the kennel ($$) even though I forgot until the week of. The whole thing was coming together for a perfect birthday weekend (Zeke 1 Sep and Chris 19 Sep). Then there was this little tropical storm headed our way.

Friday night the NASCAR race was postponed to Sunday. By the time we found out it was too late to cancel the hotel room so we will be charged wether we go or not. It is Zekes Birthday present so he will miss football (he like racing better than football anyway) to go to the races. However, Russell wants to be at football rather than the race. So, now we have to take two cars to bring Russell back in time for his football game ($$ GAS). The money is really adding up to make it happen but we are stuck because we are already out the cost of the tickets and hotel room. Maybe, I thought, they will cancel football with all this rain. Surely they don't want to play 8 games of football on a brand new field that has seen over 12 hours of non stop rain and is still getting rained on. NOPE they are still playing football. AAAGGGGHH. What an awful weekend. The only thing I can think of that could make it worse would be if we went down there tonight ( in 2 cars ) and stayed in a hotel and kennelled the dogs, and it postponed to Monday. If it goes Monday we will be out all the money for the tickets because Chris will be in Alaska. and NASCAR does not give rain checks.
