The good and the bad

We went on down to Richmond for the races. The drive was not bad and dinner at Cracker Barrel(our favorite place to stop while travelling). Although we did not have a pullout couch as we expected the room was large enough to accommodate us all comfortably. The next morning we got up leisurely, because the race didn't start until 1300, and had breakfast at the buffet, and headed out for the track. We left the hotel 4 hours before the race was supposed to start. I wanted to get there early hang out have lunch and check out the souvenirs before the race, because Russell and I had to leave early (at 1400)to get back for Football. Then, we sat in traffic for 4 hours. The hotel was only 4 miles from the track but after 4 hours in traffic (we could have walked it faster) we still could not even see the parking lot. So, Russell and I and Olivia turned out of the line of traffic and headed home. Chris and Zeke and Caden pressed on.

Meanwhile, Zeke had come down with a slight fever and migraine headache the night before and was still suffering and sleeping in the car on the way to the race. They finally got to the parking lot at 1305 (the race started at 1300)and Zeke seemed to be feeling better. While they walked into the stadium, which took about 30 minutes, they kept calling me for radio updates on the race. LOL. I can't believe I sat in traffic for 4 hours and never even saw the parking lot.

Russell and I made it back in plenty of time for his game (after a 3 hour drive +4 hours in parking traffic). He played an ok game but seemed a little flat. Maybe it had something to do with the day spent in the car. His team did manage to score 2 times. That doubles the number of points they have scored in all last years games and this years games combined. Chris started heading home with about 20 laps left in the race and was calling me for race results. It seems not only had Zekes headache returned but now he was puking everywhere. Fun times for everyone.

Everyone made it home safely and Chris left Monday morning for Alaska.
