Barely Home and Gone Again

Daddy left today to go to Mississippi. He has to do a make-up drill with his National Guard unit for missing drill while he was in Iraq--how fun. While he is down there he will be getting his GI Bill paperwork finalized so that he can start drawing his benefits while in school. Yes, that's right Chris is going back to school. He needs to finish up his BA and luckily has the GI Bill to help. He was actually able to get over 50 hours of transfer credit, and we found that there are 7 classes he can CLEP out of. He is a good tester, so we bought the CLEP prep tests and figure he should be able to make the required 50% on the tests with no problem. Lets hope -- 7 Free CLEP tests for military is a whole lot better than 7/$750 college courses. He starts (or should I say -- "we start") the first two classed 5 Nov. They are all online courses and last 8 weeks. I think it is a very nice schedule. So, back to the drill thing. He is just at 2 years from being retirement eligible, and it can't go fast enough. The real issues right now are -- his unit is pending another possible deployment in that 2 years -- NOT GOOD, and going to Mississippi every month on our own dime (roughly $1000) is really NOT GOOD. That leaves him looking to transfer to another unit for the last year or so before retirement. Hopefully he can find a place that will allow him to quietly finish his time at home ( I think he has paid his dues ).

With all that said, we went to the park yesterday and had a nice shock. I was playing quietly with Caden on the slide when Russell called out, "Mom, look at this.". I turned around to see with horror that Russell was holding up by the tail a dead rat that he and Zeke found under the monkey bars. YUC YUC YUC. The thing had to be 6+ inches long -- not counting the tail. Did I say Yuc yet? I told him to drop it and go wash his hands NOW -- With SOAP. YUC.

Going to the park has become sort of a ritual in the house -- that is since Grandma spoiled everyone. LOL. As long as the boys are good and get their schoolwork done we go to the park. It is a nice park with a walking trail around it that is about a mile long. Everyone gets to play for about an hour and I get a little exercise walking the park.

I have been feeling so much better these past couple weeks. I have really gotten over most of the morning sickness and other just Blah stuff. I have gotten a lot of my energy back and life around the house is returning to a less strained more normal routine. I don't think that this is entirely due to getting beyond the first trimester, but also probably because Daddy is home to relieve a little. This weekend we needed to get some yard work done, and Chris wanted to watch the NASCAR race. So, I went out to start the yard work. When I was done I was pleasantly surprised that he had done all the laundry and folded it and even put it away while he watched his race. I was so relieved for this unexpected help. YEAH, I was able to relax with Chris and the boys for the rest of the night.
