We love to travel. Right now we have several trips already on the books and another couple in the thought process. We have almost finished the planning process for three trips. The most exciting part about it has been using all of our points and coupons etc. . . to do the trips really inexpensively.
First, we are going to the NASCAR race at Richmond. Chris and Ezekiel both have birthdays in September and both LOVE racing. So, for their birthdays I bought the family tickets to go to the races. We were lucky enough to score the last 5 tickets in the NO ALCOHOL section of the track. I didn't even know such a section existed. So, cool not to have to worry about drunks or spilled beer etc. . . while your kids are trying to enjoy a sporting event.
Later in the month of September, we are taking our annual family vacation. Last year we took it during Spring break in April and came up to DC from Florida (before we moved). This year we are taking a trip Northeast. Ezekiel has been asking, for quite some time, to go to the Statue of Liberty, and Russell has been wanting to see Niagara Falls. Chris and I both want to see the Liberty Bell. So, we are taking a trip to Philly, NY, and Niagara. We are riding the AMTRAK train the whole way so we don't have to worry about driving, gas prices, traffic, parking directions etc . . . Everywhere we are going either has inexpensive public transportation or the events we are going to are withing walking distance of our Hotel. We are staying in hotels eight nights, and only paying for one night. We only have to pay for 2 of the attractions we are seeing on our trip -- Niagara tour and Ellis Island Ferry. The total cost of both those for the entire family is under $200. I am so excited.
The third trip currently on the books is our Anniversary trip in October. Once again, my parents are helping us out. Mom and Dad are coming to our house to take care of the kids while we go to Vegas. No, we are not big gamblers. As a matter of fact I am so unlucky, and don't like to waste money, so I really don't gamble at all. It makes me sick to loose money. Anyway, we are going to Vegas because friends of ours live out there and their anniversary (25th) is the same week as ours. They are having a big party that Saturday. I also have a close friend from my AF flying days who is stationed out there and I haven't seen her in over 2 years. It should be a good trip. Hopefully Grandma and Grandpa survive. LOL
