We got off to a slow start after Daddy left. It is always hard to get back into the routine of only having one adult in the house. But everyone seems to have settled in. The school work has gone exceptionally well this week. With the nicer weather, the kids are getting out more and getting a long better. It is nice to be able to send them outside and actually have to make them come back in. Caden and Olivia have finally settled back into their sleep routines (they always seem to abandon sleep for a while when Daddy leaves), and the house is clean. Ahh.
Russell and Zeke are enjoying Upwards Basketball for the last time. They are both starting to narrow their focus on the activities they really want to invest their time and energy into. For Russell it is football and anything to get him ready for Football. He has started a weightlifting and cardio program that Daddy set up for him before he left. Once he starts school in the fall he thinks he may swim on the swim team to keep in shape during the off season. All of Zeke's time right now is consumed with Tae Kwon Do. He loves it. This summer he will start swimming on the local swim team, and will continue with swim lessons in the off season -- starting in the fall. Both boys are still taking music lessons. Zeke is getting better on the Recorder every day and is anxious to finish the first two books of Music Theory so that I will teach him my clarinet (won't that be fun LOL). He is also taking drum lessons still and it is really starting to sound cool to listen to him. Russell is doing well in guitar, and happy that he can continue his lessons when he goes away to school. I am excited at the prospect of a somewhat settled activity schedule -- since it is still a few years before Caden will be playing anything (although Master Chang is really excited about trying to get Caden into TaeKwonDo).
I know it is early, but with the warmer days this past week, we have really been starting to look forward to spring. It has really been enjoyable to hang out with the kids and play outside.
In school this week, we had friends come over twice to do experiments. It was very fun to look for life in soil samples, under the magnifying glass. We also made Litmus paper with purple cabbage and tested the PH of several household items. I think that was the most fun we had -- Although I must say cabbage water STINKS.
