So we spent New Years Day having Christmas as my mom's house. It was a good time. Once again all the cousins got to play and we all got to eat lots of grandmas good food. Everyone really enjoyed all the gifts, and time together. On Friday we went to Great-Grandpa's farm again and had Christmas there. This time it was just Chris and me and our kids. It was really a nice visit. The kids opened their gifts and gave Grandma her gift from them. Then they played a bit with Great-Grandma and Grandpa. After they played a little inside, it was such a nice day, we went for a hike on the farm. The boys really liked walking and seeing the tracks and the scat and talking about the animals that made them. We even walked in the old creek bed and the older boys got to feel what it feels like to touch an electric wire fence. LOL. On the way back in to the house we walked right past the cows. Everyone got to pet the cows except Olivia. Olivia enjoyed the walk so much that she fell asleep in my arms as we walked. I didn't realize she was asleep til she started to droop forward in my arms. It was kinda comical. We spent the rest of the weekend at Grandma's house and even got to go see Grandpa preach his first service as pastor of University Baptist Church in Middletown Oh. It was great getting to hear him preach.
Sunday morning before church I had to drop Chris off at the airport to fly to Florida for work. Since his work was at Eglin right where our FL house is we had decided to join him for the week. However, since we had the dogs, and I was travelling alone, it was really impractical for me to stop at a hotel for the night. So, I was going to drive the 12 hour drive with 4 kids and 4 dogs in the car with me. LOL. I have made the drive non-stop before, but not with quite so many kids or dogs. So, my mother volunteered to drive with me. She was a God-send. Who knew my mother could actually stay up all night long. She did. She and I talked about everything under the sun from 615pm when we left her house to 630 am when we arrived in FL. I didn't get sleepy one time. It was great. After a short nap, we drove my mom to the Pensacola airport and she flew home. We spent the week in Florida and got a few things done around the house. The kids got to see some friends they hadn't seen in a while, went to a basketball game at their old school, went to Awanas Wednesday night with some friends, and Russell and Zeke spent the night at a friends house. Chris and I even got to go to dinner with friends of ours and we only had Olivia with us. It was a packed week. We drove home Sunday and Monday and got back to WV just in time for basketball practice.
