For fathers day Chris and Caden went out to Dunkin Donuts and brought back breakfast for the family. After we all ate we left for what Chris had planned for us for the day. We drove an hour north to Gettysburg. The first thing we did when we got there was watch a short movie about Gettysburg, and then we caught a bus out to Eisenhower's farm. I had no idea the General/President had his home up there. It was a beautiful farm and I loved the house. I really wish I could get the floor plan for their house. Anyway, we walked around and saw all the barns and cows and had a we even saw some baby barn swallows in their nest. Before we left the boys got to do something really cool. It seems the General was a real fan of golf and had a private putting green at his home. Normally it is kept up for appearances but not used. This week happened to be 1950's week at the farm. In addition to having a bunch of old 1950's cars out there, they opened up the putting green for anyone to try it out. Pretty cool. The flag in the hole was a even 5 star general flag. After we left the farm we went on the audio car tour of the battlefield. We got out at several locations and looked around. It took a couple of hours and although I was really enjoying it, I was glad that Caden slept through half of it because I don't think it would have been nearly as enjoyable. The older boys learned a lot and are anxious to go back again and do the junior ranger program at the battlefield. They even have a junior secret service program out at the farm.
Locally the Library works with the Maryland Science Center and about twice a month throughout the summer, they do a little one hour classes downtown. Today's class was "Science to Amaze". Russell got to set a dollar bill on fire without burning it. They had a lot of fun. Tomorrow they are going to "Bugs in your Backyard".
We started getting the baby's room painted this weekend. It looks really nice. I am so excited to see it finished. One more room in the house will be complete. I think after the baby's room we will be painting and re-flooring Caden's room.

We are definitely interested in Gettysburg, so I was glad to see you enjoyed it. We'll have to trade notes--you can hear about Yellowstone, LOL. Also, I need to call you this week about July 4--are you still interested in seeing the downtown fireworks? Our Bible study group is going, so you could meet us there (or at our house, or wherever) . . . obviously I just need to call you! : )
I can't wait to see Olivia again--sounds like she is growing like a champ! And I am so jealous of Caden's pottying success. I've just started ANna on the potty, and she has not been really cooperative. I was a little surprised. I thought she'd be all over wearing underwear, but she could care less. Sigh. So what are you planning to re-floor his room with? Same stuff as for the older boys? Oops, dinner is ready--must go. I'll talk to you later!
I haven't really put any thought into Caden's flooring beyond getting the nasty green carpet out. I think it will probably be a wood floor. Olivia is getting a wood floor and we night just stick with that for the whole upstairs.
