Maybe not the HOA but certainly key members of it are busy making me love living in a HOA. LOL. Today Zeke came to me with a phone number from some guy that wanted me to call him. I was in bed with Caden who is still recovering from not feeling well for the past week (apparently he has allergies). So, Zeke says this guy stopped by a told me that Kadiy, our mastiff, attacked him -- grabbing his shirt and tugging on it. Now, anyone who has ever met Kadiy knows that it is impossible for this to be true. Kadiy, although a large dog, is true to the mastiff breed. She is full of bark and NO Bite. They are known as the gentle giant. They are not aggressive dogs. They are not recommended as attack dogs or guard dogs, because although wary of strangers they restrain they do not attack or bite.
"When an "unrecognizable" visitor enters the home, the Mastiff will usually place itself between its master and the visitor until their master has recognized the visitor in a way that appears to be compassionate or friendly."
"If a stranger breaks into a house where there is a Mastiff, the Mastiff's tendency is to corner the person and not let them get away, holding them until their owner gets home to deal with the intruder. The dog may snarl or bark or even snap at the intruder if he tries to get away, but usually will not actually hurt him unless the intruder has tried to hurt the dog or has succeeded in hurting him. Many Mastiffs, when mature, can recognize something about people who have unpleasant motives, and are watchful or will get in between you and that person. If your dog gets between you and a stranger in a questionable situation, trust your Mastiff! The dog may have sensed something you couldn't recognize in that person"

Typical restraint would be to run circles around the intruder barking. So, I called Don to talk to him. The conversation was him telling inflated stories, and threatening me with city ordinances and having my dog labeled a vicious dog and me in the end hanging up on him. I was so furious that I proceeded to start door to door to talk to my neighbors. To make a long story short, I met a couple new people today- very nice people at that, and learned a lot about the neighbors in general. Who is "with" who, who is respected, who doesn't care etc. . . I also sent one very pointed email back to Jerry ( one of dogs cronies and the HOA Pres ) who is "terrified" of my dog who ran out at him on his morning walk today. Oh yeah, and on advice from my father I sent that email to everyone in the HOA. Wouldn't want any lies going around about what exactly I said to him. Kadiy did get to meet another couple of neighbors today as well, and they were both shocked that anyone would call her viscous or dangerous. Although it was a somewhat emotionally driven day it turned out all right and we even got all of our homeschooling done. Poor Kadiy is not feeling well. I think she is depressed about all the bad publicity. LOL.
Caden seems to be outta the fog he has been in for the past week, thanks in part to a very smart Grandma. After a talking about his ails and everything she suggested maybe it was allergies. I started observing him and thought she might be right. So, instead of the decongestant and the fever reducer I gave him Clariton allergy medicine. By the next morning he was 80 percent better and acted normal all day. After last nights dose he is near 100 percent. Now we just have to figure out exactly what he is allergic to. We think it may be some type of mold or mildew -- only time will tell. I am just glad he is well enough to go back to his own bed. For a little guy he sure can consume a king size bed.
The weather seems to have broken and it was hot and sunny again today. YEAH!! We are going to have to mow tomorrow after football practice. We have our first scrimmage football games this weekend. They call it the Grid-o-rama. They play one 15 minute quarter against each of the other teams in the league. It gives everyone a good opportunity to see what they are up against and what they need to work on. Russell is playing Half back on the offense and Linebacker on the defense. He is doing really good this year and is excited as he has been chosen to wear the play cuff and run the offense. Hopefully their line will get it together. They have some big guys, but most of them are in their first year. The real tragedy is that the biggest guy on the team is afraid to hit and spends half of every practice sitting out crying. Zeke, amazingly enough is a defensive lineman and plays some on the line and some at fullback on the offense. They are only peewee, so they are still trying to figure out which end is up. He is really enjoying football, as much as I was worried that he wouldn't. Hopefully we will have some pictures to post after the games this weekend
