Spring kicks off with . . .

The first and biggest news of the week is that Caden can now ride his bike without training wheels. He is such a determined little boy. Today, he rode without help the first time on his bike when I took the training wheels off. Then he rode about 2 more hours throughout the day learning to start/stop/turn by himself. He had so much fun.

Additionally we are happy to report that most of the snow has melted off and the weather has improved so much that we are able to resume our outside activities in earnest. The kids have LOVED having so much time outside the past three days. As a matter of fact we were having so much fun today that we forgot all about Zeke's drum lessons. OOps. We have actually been able to go for some walks with out friends and, for the most part, the paths have been clear of snow. Another week and we should be able to walk most anywhere again. We also got a chance to get out and play fetch with Polly today. She has never brought the item back once she gets it so, with the help of having several things and with Kadiy's help, we taught Polly to bring it back and drop it today. I would have to say, after and hour of playing fetch we were all pretty tired

School is tapering down for us, and we are looking forward to a busy summer schedule of activities. Ezekiel is doing quite well in all his subject and has actually finished history and science for the year. He has replaced those subjects with reading -- which he loves to do anyway. So, he is reading some historical fiction as well as others right now. I can't seem to deter him from reading several books at once. He always seems to have at least 3 books that he is reading at the same time. His math has made great strides this year and we seem to have gotten past the "melt-downs" -- at least to the point of no more than 1 a month. Caden is also doing well. He continues to improve daily. He is reading some small words on hi own now, and we are working on his numbers and counting because he wants to learn how to tell time. Olivia is now in the 2 year old class in church and is so happy there. She turns two in a few weeks (11 Apr).

Coming up next week we are headed to warmer weather in FL. We are going to do some final work on our house there and put it back on the market. Praying that it sells before fall. We will spend most of Russell's spring break there and then headed to Homeschool days at Wolf Lodge for two days. The last week of the month I am headed to KS to run an Adventure Race with Joey (Joey and I went through Nav School together). She is in KS for a military school. It should be an terrific weekend since we have not seen each other in a couple years. Chris will be deploying in April and we will spend the summer this year without him, but he is going to take several weeks off work when he comes home. We hope to visit a lot of family, take our Biennial family vacation, and actually spend our birthdays, and holidays together. The Lord willing it will work out the way we have planned.
