This morning I went to clean out the soaking bowl for
Caden's 3 Fire Belly Toads. We have often wondered if any of them were girls. Well the Jury is no longer out on that one. We now have EGGS. According to my research (7am this morning) If you keep the tank over 77 degrees for 3-5 days it encourages Breeding. So, We have eggs. We are not sure how long the eggs have been there but we will either have tadpoles or not in 3 days. It takes 3 days to incubate at 77 degrees. We hurried out and bought them a little tank all their own because if they do hatch the adults will eat the babies -- no mothering here. Luckily, even though they can lay up to 100 eggs, we only have about 20. I did contemplate just throwing them out, but thought what a horrible missed opportunity that would be. So we shall see if anything will become of our eggs in THREE days. I have added a picture of our lovely white eggs.
