I know, it is not a very original title. I actually think I used the same title on a posting about this time last year. It rains A LOT in West Virginia. It rains so much the grass grows like crazy and you can't get it cut because it is always raining. It is especially difficult when you have a very large yard and it takes 3 hours to cut the whole thing. Well, I got most of the front yard (the part everyone sees) mowed today, and tomorrow there is an 80 percent chance of rain here, and we leave for Grandma's Friday morning. Looks like we will have jungle to mow when we get home. Oh well, not like is hasn't happened before. Speaking of the lawn, we have been doing a lot of work in our lawn since Chris has been home so much. I have been so thankful for this much needed break. It has affected the budget a bit, but has been worth it to have him home. Olivia has become a true Daddy's girl. She doesn't like to let him out of her sight. It is so cute. Anyway, I digress, the lawn is starting to look really nice. We spent a couple days working towards cleaning up our woods, which of course meant a couple new Manly Yard Tools for Chris LOL. Then, a friend came over (Gary) and helped Chris in the yard last Saturday afternoon. They managed to get two large piles of lawn debris Burned, and another section of the woods cleared. We have done so much work on the woods, and where we have worked looks great -- if you know what it looked like before. The funny, almost sad, thing is that to someone who doesn't really KNOW what it looked like before -- It looks like we have done Nothing. At the current rate we may have the woods cleared by 2015.
Last week my parents called with an answer to prayer. We just found out that we have to move our RV (5th wheel). It has been parked in the on base motor pool (thanks to Chris' friends) at no cost to us for 2 years, but now the powers that be are making them clear the lot and "play by the rules". We had not told anyone that we needed to move it, but had been looking and praying for another place to put it. Then, mom called and asked if we were planning on using our RV in the next 6 months. Dad just accepted a full time pastorate at Universtiy Baptist in Middletown Ohio. It is an awesome church, but it is nearly an hour one way drive. They are trying to sell their house and move closer, but in today's market things aren't going anywhere fast. So, they are going to park our RV at the church and use it on weekends so they don't have to drive back and forth so much. It is a win win situation for everyone. YEAH. The cool thing is, the church has hookups and everything already -- designed for travelling evangelists. What an awesome answer to prayer.
I finally got my vehicle back. I guess once you get to 130K in miles it is expected that little things will need to be done. I had to change the tires for the first time about 3 months ago. This time the O2 sensors had to be replaced, along with the spark plugs/boots/and coils, and the sensors for the air suspension went out. I thank God every day for the Handy man he gave me. Chris saved us $800 by doing all the work except for the air suspension, and that cost us $950. At least it is all better and running like a dream again. I am back to getting 450 miles to the tank instead of 300 miles to the tank that I have been getting the last 6 months. To think of all the wasted money on fuel efficiency.
Soccer is going great the boys are having fun, but it is the last year they will play. Zeke is consumed with Karate and wants to do the competition team next year. That will make 6 classes a week plus competitions. Russell has narrowed his focus to FOOTBALL. If he goes to school next year ( pray for financial aide) then he will play football and lacrosse at school. If not, then he may do soccer again in the Spring only. Caden begs to do Karate all the time. He is old enough to take their introductory class, and Master Chang really wants him to start, but I told him he had to wait until he turned 4. Olivia is a girly girl. She loves balls, but REALLY loves dolls. We were at the store the other day and she saw the balls and kept saying "ball ball". Funny thing, when we turned the corner and were in the DOLL aisle, she started saying "doll, doll, doll" when we tried to leave the doll aisle she screamed "DOLL DOLL DOLL" "MINE MINE MINE" and threw a fit. It was kind of comical. She is becoming more and more dramatic all the time. I think that is the girl in her. She carries her doll with her all over the house. So far her vocabulary consists of Ma, Dada, No, Mine, Doll, Ball, Dog, More, and Bubble (otherwise known as Russell). School is almost over, as far as this years curriculum. Russell has the most left to do and I think it will take him to Mid June to be completely finished. Zeke is already asking when he can get started on the 4th grade curriculum. He wants to get ahead so he can graduate early -- LOL -- what a planner.
Tomorrow Chris will drive to Ft Meade and pick up the RV and then we will drive to Ohio on Friday. I am so excited. Kristi (by brother Stephen's wife) and I are taking my mother to the most AWESOME place for Mother's day dinner Saturday night. We have had reservations for a couple of months now. I would say the name of the place, but it is a surprise for my mother.
