I have been doing a lot of reading lately. So many topics and not enough time. Sometimes I think it is a blessing that I have such a broad appreciation of topics and at other times I am overwhelmed with the desire to learn more NOW. So many topics and not enough time. As some of the topics I am reading are a bit tedious and others not so much, I have been mixing it up a bit. So far this month I have read: The Counter Terrorism Puzzle by Ganor -- A very good book that was actually a text for Chris' last class he took. More of interest to me than to him. He suffered through it and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Then, I finished the book My Father the Spy by John Richardson -- A true story about one of America's Top Spies who got his start in WWII and died in 1998. This book has lead me in about 10 new directions of information seeking, but alas, I already have about 20 books on my nightstand/bookshelves waiting for me to read them. So, I chose to put that direction aside and read a book The End of Reason by Ravi Zacharias. Wow. -- Yep that is pretty much what I have to say about that. If you want to hear a bit more about what NON-THEISTs think about Christianity some simple ways to refute read this book and then move on to the book (same author) that I am reading now (The Real Face of Atheism -- my brain hurts). Because of the "intensity" of the Zacharias book, I went for the easy read next and read a book called The Mission the Men and Me by Pete Blaber. Although this book referred to specific events and missions occurring in the past 20 years, it was more of a "lessons learned" book. It has a lot of good information, but the way the information was presented by the author left me resenting him and doubting his integrity by the end of the book. This book also made me want to reach back and re-read some others that I have and pick up others at the book store but of course I was again Drawn back to the pile of books yet to be read. Last year, Russell read an excerpt from The Hiding Place (the life story of Corrie Ten Boom), and asked if I would buy him the book to read. I looked for it in all the local bookstores but couldn't find it. I was going to buy it for him for Christmas on line but forgot. Then, about a week after Christmas, I was casually walking around a bookstore glancing at shelves ( I could do this for hours) and there it was -- so I picked it up. Instead of jumping right into another Zacharias book I opted for the three day read of The Hiding Place. What an awesome book and testimony and a great lead back into the book I am reading now -- The Real Face of Atheism. There are still many books left to read and my list of others to buy is ever expanding. Right now Chris and I are studying Song of Solomon for our daily devotion using a book by Carole Hocking, and I am helping Chris study for his CLEP test in Psychology. So, I am getting my fill of reading.
Ezekiel is constantly running around with his nose in a book as well. He genuinely seems to be enjoying school this year ( all of it ). It is so, exciting to see him enjoy learning. At the same time, Caden is starting to sound out words. He still loves doing his school work each day. It won't be long until Caden is off in the wonderful world of learning called BOOKS.
Oh yeah, I can't forget about Olivia. She is still TINY, and almost potty trained. She loves wearing her big girl underwear, and boy does she have an attitude. She is too cute trying to sing the alphabet song which usually goes something like: ABC ABC ABC ABCD progressively getting louder. LOL She has also started counting 1 2 3 and then jumping or rolling followed by raising her hands in the air and saying TADA. Very funny.

I'm going to look for the spy book to read myself. I read some absolutely fascinating books on WWII intelligence this past year, which of course just showed me how little I know! Very interesting subject, to say the least.
My parents went to Dave Hocking's church (Carole's husband) when we lived in L.A. They thought he was an excellent teacher, although soemthing happened way after we PCSed, such that he is no longer preaching.
