We had a pretty good visit with Chris' mom and dad a couple weeks ago. Chris was able to fly down to Jackson MS with us for the weekend. I dropped the boys off with their father for the week and then we drove to Columbus to spend the weekend at Chris' mom's house. It was the first time either of his parents had seen Olivia. Of course Caden got to go to the race track with his Grandfather and watch the dirt track races. He even got to ride around in the race race car. He still talks about it daily. He tells everyone he has a race car. Chris' mom cooked good food, and played with the kids. The cousins came over and they all played hard. After the weekend Chris had to fly back home to be at work for the week, and Caden and Olivia and I went to the house in Florida.
Being at home with no distractors really gave Chris a chance to get a few things done around the house. At the Florida house I was able to get the yard cut and seeded and cleaned up the pool a bit. We swam in the pool almost every day. Caden really had a lot of fun. The first night I was there we went to dinner with Barb at Applebees. It was really nice to have adult conversation with minimal interruption from the children. David, her son and Russell's friend was there and disappointed that Russell was with his father and not able to come. I was also able to go to dinner with my friend Mari and her daughters. We went to the new Panera Bread. It was awesome as usual, except in the middle of dinner Caden had to go potty. Of course both the bathrooms were flooded and closed so we had to walk across the street to Starbucks in the middle of dinner. I felt bad for Mari because I left her sitting there with her three and Olivia. Saturday before we left (first thing Sunday morning), I picked the boys up at noon. Then, we had David over and he and Russell played all day. That afternoon Mari and the girls came over and we all played and swam and ate burgers and dogs off the grill. Oh yeah and we had fresh Georgia peaches from a roadside stand. They were so good.
On the way home, going through the airport was an interesting time. With just one adult 4 kids (including a toddler and infant), 4 checked bags, 4 carry on bags, stroller, and computer. We looked like a circus. I was so thankful to see the airport security was dead. No one there to be angry at how long it took us to go through security. LOL. Then, as I am standing there finally through security and just waiting for bags, the lady pics up Caden's little toy bag and asks whose it is. I pointed to Caden, think she just wanted to know what kid to hand it to. Unfortunately, that was not the case. She carried his bag down to the end, where 2 new security personnel had just appeared. Now, I'm thinking how crazy is it to randomly search a kids toy bag. When she opened it up and pulled out his TOY GUNS. I had no idea he had packed those guns. I though we left them all behind to be played with at the Florida house. I was so embarrassed. We were all happy when she let him keep them and the rest of the trip went without problems.
